Here are the latest links to our coverage of the Commitment of Traders data changes.


Large currency speculators reduced their net positions in the US Dollar Index futures markets this week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Friday.

US Dollar Index speculators reduced their dollar bets for a third straight week this week despite the dollar strength being shown in the markets.

Overall, the major currencies that saw improving speculator positions this week were the euro (45,162 weekly change in contracts),  Japanese yen (24,778 contracts), Swiss franc (6,779 contracts) and the Australian dollar (25,280 contracts).

The currencies whose speculative bets declined this week were the US dollar index (-5,260 weekly change in contracts), British pound sterling (-7,688 contracts), New Zealand dollar (-4,899 contracts), Canadian dollar (-7,633 contracts) and the Mexican peso (-78,702 contracts).

 


WTI Crude Oil Speculators raised bullish bets this week despite price drop

The large speculator contracts of WTI crude futures totaled a net position of 440,237 contracts, according to the latest data this week. This was a change of 52,840 contracts from the previous weekly total.

 


10-Year Note Speculators added to their bearish bets for 2nd week

Large speculator contracts of the 10-Year Bond futures totaled a net position of -251,113 contracts, according to the latest data this week. This was a change of -36,530 contracts from the previous weekly total.

 


Gold Speculators dropped bullish bets for 4th straight week after record high

Large precious metals speculator contracts of the Gold futures totaled a net position of 281,916 contracts, according to the latest data this week. This was a change of -17,615 contracts from the previous weekly total.

 


VIX Speculators increased their bearish bets for 2nd straight week

Large stock market volatility speculator contracts of the VIX futures totaled a net position of -79,487 contracts, according to the latest data this week. This was a change of -16,165 contracts from the previous weekly total.
